Tajwīd al-Qur’an (تجويد القرآن) is the study of the correct pronunciation and recitation of the Qur’an — basically, it’s all about reading the Qur’an the way it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
The course dives into how each Arabic letter should be pronounced, the rules for when to stretch or pause, and how to beautify your recitation without changing the meaning. You’ll learn things like:
-
Makharij al-ḥurūf (the points of articulation — where each sound comes from in your mouth or throat),
-
Ṣifāt al-ḥurūf (the qualities of the letters, like heaviness, softness, etc.),
-
Rules of Noon Sakinah and Tanween, Madd (elongation), and Qalqalah (echoing sounds),
-
Plus, the etiquette and spiritual aspect of reciting the Qur’an properly.
By the end, students can recite the Qur’an smoothly, accurately, and with the same rhythm and beauty used by skilled Qāri’s (reciters).
